About Coder Z
CRCC is powered by the CoderZ Cyber Robotics Learning Environment, developed by Intelitek. CoderZ is a cloud-based platform that features a virtual, online, 3D graphical simulation of common robotics kits. CoderZ has a coding interface where users can activate the virtual robot, or “cyber-robot”, and watch the results in a real-time and accurate simulation. CoderZ uses curriculum and structured missions for students to learn STEM through the use of software code. Students learn the basics of coding and robotics through the fun, gamified platform where they accumulate points and are rewarded for their achievements.
Pedagogic Objectives
- Get educators and students excited about Computer Science
- Encourage participation – recognize schools & teachers investing in STEM
- Reduce the fear factor surrounding learning to code and robotics and teaching coding or robotics, and technology in general
The Spring 2018 Greater DC (DC, MD, VA, PA, WV) Cyber Robotics Coding Competition is a new and exciting online competition using a cloud-based simulation platform featuring a virtual, 3D animated robot. The competition focuses on code development – the new frontier of STEM. Middle school-age students from schools across the region will compete from any Chrome computer browser to complete missions and challenges. Winners will be the schools who can best strategize, plan and complete the challenges.
Finals
April 7th, 2018
Face to Face Codeathon at the USA Science & Engineering Festival followed by a ceremony for the winning coders and schools

Who, Why, What?
Building off of the Fall 2017 success of the Cyber Robotics Coding Competition with the New Hampshire State Department of Education (NH-CRCC), ISCEF is rapidly expanding into new states and regions to offer more students the opportunity to learn to code using a fun, interactive platform and competition framework.
- The Greater DC-CRCC kicked-off on March 6 with a teacher orientation and training. Click Here to Watch the Recorded Session
- The competition started on March 7 with a skill-building Boot Camp to prepare students for the virtual competition phases – students have access to a series of challenges to solve by coding the virtual robots.
- Schools who complete the most challenges and have the highest participation and diversity of students before March 26 will qualify for awards.
- All participants will advance to the Week of Code/Qualifiers – a week+ long coding event with master challenges from March 23 – April 1.
- Qualifiers with the best results will progress to the face to face finals on April 7 at the USA Science & Engineering Festival.
- Awards will be presented at the event on April 7
Awards will be presented for:
Inclusiveness | School with highest % of students participating in Greater DC-CRCC out of total enrollment |
Diversity | Highest % of girls participating in Greater DC-CRCC out of total enrollment |
In-Person Finals Winners | 1st/2nd/3rd Place Team with the most points in coding faceoff |
Robotics and coding create pathways to careers and jobs in industry – through robotics, students in middle and high school learn not only mechanics and programming, but also the math, science and engineering principles behind robots. Cyber Robotics and Coding will help schools expand their approach to STEM using virtual training tools and take the skills that students learn to new practical levels.
